Each month on the second Thursday, the South Atlantic LCC, the Southeast Climate Science Center, the Southeast Regional Climate Hub, and the State Climate Office of North Carolina bring you the Triangle Climate and Landscape Researchers’ Brown Bag.

The Brown Bag lunch is a forum for climate and landscape researchers in the Triangle to sit down face-to-face. Each month there is a main topic with a different presenter, along with time for everyone to meet and share information/news. Everyone involved in climate or landscape research is welcome to attend.

Next Brown Bag Presentation

Date: August 13th, 2015

Speaker: Jim Fox, Director of the National Environmental Modeling and Analysis Center, UNC Asheville

Title: The National Climate Resilience Toolkit (CRT) and Regional Public/Private Partnerships that are working to Build Resilience: A Southeast Example

Description:  The Climate Resilience Toolkit (CRT) was developed in response to the President’s Climate Action Plan and Executive Order to help the nation prepare for the impacts of climate change.  Released in November 2014, the CRT provides tools, information, and expertise to help people manage climate-related risks & opportunities.  UNC Asheville’s National Environmental Modeling and Analysis Center (NEMAC) partnered with NOAA to develop the CRT and the associated GIS interface called the Climate Explorer. The site illustrates the process for building resilience to climate impacts, and shares tools and relevant case studies.  To show the effectiveness of this approach, NEMAC has worked with the Southeast Sustainability Directors Network (SSDN) to develop climate adaptation plans for communities across the Southeast, fostering regional collaboration and creating an online Community Resilience Handbook.

Time and Location:  12:00 pm – 1:30 pm in 1214 Jordan Hall Addition on NCSU’s main campus.

Please join us for this exciting talk, and please feel free to extend this invitation to colleagues, students, faculty or friends.
