As Forest Service Liaison to the South Atlantic LCC, I recently attended the Francis Marion National Forest Plan Revision Kick-Off Meeting in Columbia, SC. In this meeting not only did I share with the forest staff information about the SALCC, I also learned about the plan revision process and how the Francis Marion will begin it. It is a very thorough, collaborative process that is extremely dedicated to getting input from public stakeholders – especially communities living in and around the forest, as well as those who live near enough to enjoy what the forest has to offer on a regular basis.

In addition to the aforementioned public,  agency/organization stakeholders are also involved in the planning process. Part of my role is to help solicit input from those agencies and organizations to facilitate the “all lands” approach of forest planning. If your agency or organization is a part of the cooperative, your work is impacted by or impacts the Francis Marion National Forest, you have not heard about the Forest Plan Revision process and you would like to know more or become involved, please email me at ginger@southatlanticlcc.org.
