Recently, NOAA’s Climate Adaptation Team was charged with assessing NOAA’s involvement in Landscape Conservation Cooperatives (LCCs) with a focus on increasing coordination and support for NOAA’s engagement in the LCC network. To further support this engagement effort, NOAA has announced that Laurie McGilvray will start a 1-year assignment in May 2013 in the newly established position of NOAA-LCC National Liaison.
Laurie is currently with NOAA’s Office of Ocean and Coastal Resource Management as Director for the Estuarine Reserve Division (NERRS). As such, she is familiar with the scope of the LCCs and will be a great asset in connecting both the climate and stewardship missions of NOAA to enhance how NOAA engages as a member of the LCCs. Laurie will be located at NOAA headquarters in Silver Spring MD and will work across the agency, in coordination with the NOAA Climate Adaptation Team and NOAA Habitat Conservation Team as well as with the USFWS National LCC Coordinator, to facilitate and foster NOAA’s engagement in the LCCs.
Please join me in welcoming Laurie McGilvray as she helps enhance outreach and collaborative efforts and provides coordination across multiple NOAA programs and the LCCs!
