President John F. Kennedy once said, “Ask not what the Blueprint can do for you–ask what you can do for the Blueprint.” I might be paraphrasing slightly…artistic liberties, and all that.
Well, the staff of your Cooperative wants you to do both at the same time—help the Blueprint by letting it help you. Do you have a conservation decision to make? Maybe you are applying for a grant, trying to decide what property to acquire in your land acquisition program, looking for partnership opportunities, or making a map for a public meeting. Why not give the Blueprint a whirl?
We want to learn what works and what doesn’t so we can make Version 2.0 a commonly held standard for informing conservation action and investment across our geography. Ambitious? Perhaps. But your Cooperative is on a mission, and we can’t succeed without your help! Reach Louise Vaughn and me by phone at 919-707-0252, or by email at firstname.lastname@example.org to share your experience or ask questions about using the Blueprint.
This month’s featured Blueprint user is Beth Stys, fearless leader of our Steering Committee and representative of the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission. She recently used the Blueprint to apply for a State Wildlife Grant to undertake climate adaptation management efforts in the Big Bend of Florida. If funded, the project would focus on Big Bend and Chassahowitzka Wildlife Management Areas, in cooperation with Peninsular Florida LCC and an adjacent National Wildlife Refuge. Blueprint 1.0 designates the Big Bend region a highest priority for shared action.
