Big news from the RESTORE Council: they released the Draft Initial Funded Priorities List (draft FPL) for public comment. Among the $140 million in projects selected is the ~$1.9 million “Strategic Assessment of Gulf Coast Landscapes” proposal that was submitted through the Department of Interior (DOI). LCCs figure prominently in the conservation design work outlined in this proposal, serving as the catalyst for the development of two decision support tools to help guide strategic investments in land conservation across the Gulf.
The public comment period will be open through September 28th and a series of public meetings are being held throughout the Gulf region. Dates and locations are outlined in the RESTORE Council’s press release. DOI also has a press release on their website, and Gregg Elliot from the Gulf Coastal Plains and Ozarks LCC posted it as a blog on the South Atlantic LCC website as well!
