As you might remember, the Conservation Blueprint, ecosystem indicators, and the strong relationships you’ve all built in this region recently helped bring in some new money for prescribed fire (click here to read the original post about it). Now it’s time to start using the indicators to report back on impacts. It takes a few years to see the full impacts of fire, or lack of it, so modeling Indicators can be a helpful way of reporting on likely impacts.
Here’s a short 4 minute video I did about a month ago to describe some simple reporting methods to the funders of the Wildland Fire Resilient Landscapes Initiative. They’re fairly simple at this point, but just like everything your cooperative does, they’ll keep getting better over time.
