January 21st, 2016: “Functional Diversity of South Atlantic LCC Fish Communities” with Joshua Epstein, University of Florida
Functional diversity (FD) represents the diversity of traits in a system, and is important in influencing many aspects of ecosystem functioning. Taking a trait-based approach to test the success of South Atlantic LCC indicators, we measured freshwater fish tropic, reproductive, and habitat functional diversity across the South Atlantic LCC at the HUC8 scale. We then related these FD values to indicators and other environmental variables to determine how effectively FD could be used to predict these watershed or landscape characteristics.
