October 15th, 2015: “Tracing impacts: Connecting conservation actions to indicators” with Christy Ihlo, Nicholas Institute for Environmental Policy Solutions & South Atlantic LCC
Being able to effectively use limited resources is essential to conservation. Understanding the potential impacts of management actions can help to achieve that goal. A team of researchers from Duke University is developing geospatial tools to quantify changes in the South Atlantic LCC indicators caused by possible management actions, answering questions such as “how does prescribed burning impact the pine and prairie ecosystem indicators?” or “how will acquiring a piece of land impact the South Atlantic LCC indicators?”. We hope these tools will help determine management actions that make the greatest contribution to the South Atlantic LCC’s long term goals.
